Big Savings at the Grocery Store!
So to anyone out there who thinks grocery shopping can never result in a lot of savings...I'm here to prove you wrong. We just went to Safeway...one of the main grocery chains in Colorado..for one of their stores grand reopening..and just about everything was on sale. We had a cart so full that I couldn't even turn the corners by myself....and just to highlight some of the specials (p.s...I learned of this sale by looking through all those anying flyer grocery store things in the mail):

Pepsi products: (even though I prefer Coke) Buy 2 12 packs...get 3 free
Quilted Northern: 99 cents
Toaster Strudes: 99 cents
Campbell's chunky soup: 99 cents
All pasta/rice o roni: 88 cents
eggs: FREE with card

PLUS...we get 10% off all our grocery bills for the next 60 days

Total: $185.23
Club card savings: $87.54
Coupon savings: $2.10
Total savings: $91.64
Amount paid: $93.59

I was so excited...I couldn't believe we saved 50% on our groceries and our pantry can NOT hold anymore food!!

Trip #2 of The Grocery Game
So...Still not saving as much as I had hoped, but not bad considering we have way more food in our coat closet converted into a pantry....

Today we bought mostly fresh fruits and some stuff to make BBQ for dinner:

Total: $32.55
Coupon Savings: $.60
Multiplied Coupon Savings: $.40
Sooper Card Savings: $6.39
Total Saved: $7.39
Final Total: $25.16
Saved 22%

The good thing is that by shopping this way, we can get just the essential stuff like milk and eggs and bread on the weekends along with the sale items to stock up on and we won't run out of food and go hungry during a snow storm! haha!

The Grocery Game
So I have recently discovered what is know as The Grocery Game. Basically, for about a dollar a week, you subscribe to a grocery list that gives you all the sales at the store of your choice and any applicable coupons from the Sunday paper....and then you just start stoking up on the things you use when they are at their lowest price (sometimes even FREE!). So...for my first shopping trip using the list (and I bought a TON of stuff that was not on the list, but still on sale just so we would have food to eat) here were my results (they say on average shoppers save around 67%):

Total: $110.73
Manufacture Coupon Savings : $7.45
Multiplied Coupon Savings: $1.45
Sooper Card Savings: $17.31
Total Savings: $26.21
Final Total: $84.52
I saved 24%! and got a truck full of groceries!
